First ride of the season first ticket of the season

So just looking for a bit of advice on this.....

Got a ticket this Saturday for an improperly displayed plate (section 3.02) cost $235

So I'm thinking of disputing this ticket as after looking through the regulations there is no real guide on how to display you license plate, mine is on the most rear part of the bike and at an angle but still readable and visible from 30 feet away.....but according to the cop that pulled me (motorcycle cop) it isn't easy to read, so instead of arguing with the guy I accepted the ticket on went on my way

Just want to get a general feeling of people whether I should just pay up or dispute this ticket, I personally feel the cop was just out collecting his ticket quota and I happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

It would be interesting to see what you guys think
I've attached a pic of my bike to give you an idea

That plate is mounted illegally, and the cop was 100% correct in ticketing you for it. Your only (very slim) hope in disputing is that he won't show up to court.

    - Plate is at a ridiculous angle.
    - Are those turn signals on the side of the plate? If so, they're useless and illegal. If not, and you have an integrated tail light/signals, then that's equally useless and illegal.
    - No plate light.

You played the game and got the short end of the stick. Happened a million times before, and will happen a million times more.

The angle isn't as extreme as the pic suggests
And the turn signals are unbelievably bright
But yes it true there is no light for the plate but that wasn't what he pulled me for

Signals are to be minimum 6 inches off center line and plate mounted vertically past the rear axle of the bike with a light, your done 2 out of 3.

There was a thread last year with the DMV sections quoted and high-lighted .

The ticket had nothing to do with the signals it was purely for the plate

Just wanting to see what other people's experiences are with this

    Number plates in horizontal position
3.02 A number plate shall at all times be securely fastened in a horizontal position to the vehicle for which it is issued.

You'll read through the season people getting VI's for plate tail tidy and looking for stock parts to get through the inspection.
And as for the ticket being only for the plate, the cop was doing you a favor by not doing you for everything then you would truly be butt-hurt.

    If you fight the ticket,
In accordance with 3.02, it complies as it only stipulate fastened and horizontally.
Make sure you don't show up to court with your bike as revenge is sweet and the Leo can definitely write you up for many things wrong with the back end of your bike.

You should have explained that it's a sumo, and most of the time is spent on the rear wheel,
at which point the plate is exceptionally clear and legible.....it's all about perspective.

i completely agree with others on this one, that angle IS ridiculous!! you absolutely need to be able to read the plate when headlights are pointed at it!! horizontal position and all...

only a 10 tonne truck driver and para-gliders will ever see yours... good luck
