    commuter bike idea

    Hi everyone!

    Looking for ultimate commuter bike.

    Here are my parameters:

    Engine: 650 - 1000 cc
    Cylinders: 2 - 4
    Full fairing
    Upright seating position
    ABS (riding all year)
    Narrow profile
    Final drive: shaft or belt
    Reliable

The only bike I can think of is BMW F800GT

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    PS. I had ninja 650r, suzuki gsx650, gsx1250

Adventure bikes are the best commuters since you can easily buy racks for them.

Full fairing, shaft drive, and 750 cc would be awesome. Closest is a big scooter; burgman or beemer.

I am happy commuting on gsx1250, gsx650 is better on insurance and gas though.

I am just lazy and don't want to do chain maintenance.

BMWR1200 is too wide due to it's engine opposite cylinders.

Zero FX/RS? Both are belt driven, cheap on gas and insurance is kept at a minimum.

what if you run out of gas? you said commuting; I assumed in the lower mainland, (both of those motorcycles could handle even my extremely long commute from Poco to West van.

Not having chain was the main idea.

Chain maintenance isn't that big a thing, you're cutting tons of great bikes on that one condition. Maybe assign it a lower weighting.
