Anyone have recent experience bringing meat into the US? The stuff I'm reading online is contradictory.
I'm considering planning a (car) road trip in the US this spring/summer with my dog, and the pooch is on a raw beef diet (frozen and vacuum sealed in plastic packaging), of local Canadian origin. Temporarily switching to dry food is not an option I want to explore.
Page 1 says...Page 2 says...Fresh (chilled or frozen), dried, cured, and fully cooked meat is generally prohibited from most countries.Page 1 seems to have been updated more recently, but who knows what part was actually updated...However, currently pork and poultry, which has proof of origin, from Canada is enterable. Not all Ruminant material can enter however personal use amounts of bovine meat or foods containing bovine meat or meat products (e.g., beef, veal, bison) are allowed in passenger baggage and mail, no import permit or other documentation is required.
Anyone know (for sure) what the deal is?
(Experience shows that talking to border guards will result in ten different answers, so... ??)
