That's $85MM down the drain.
Probably a reaction to wsbk going to Laguna Seca.

Miller lost the WSBK contract due to their inability to get workers for a Sunday race. They had to race on Monday. When Miller was new, I flew down there to train the workers for AMA Superbike. We had a lot of volunteers, trained like mad on Wed, Thurs Frid. We had qualifying and a few support races on Saturday. Come Sunday, no one showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Mormons don't work on Sunday. We had to pull spectators out of the stands to have enough people. It was chaos.
Lol!...No work on Sunday...since when is Corner Marshalling at a fricken WORLD SUPERBIKE race considered "work"?!!
They seriously just didn't show up? No forewarning that they won't be coming on Sunday?!! That sucks Debbie! How unprofessional!
As for Miller closing, I have a funny feeling someone else will step in.
Maybe Michael Jordan should buy it...
Jordan Motorsports Park has a nice ring to it! ;-)
I know! You would think someone would have told us about the Sunday thing. I didn't know enough to ask. Oh well, we pulled it off, but only just.
The article said the "lease with Tooele County was up". Who spends $85MM on a facility on leased land? As a Commercial Banker, the inherent risk in that makes me cringe.
Be interesting to see what happens. Even if someone else buys the park, it doesn't solve some of the other issues. Too far from Salt Lake City, lack of nearby amenities, two lane country road as access.
Hey Deb, you still involved with the Laguna volunteer thing?
Oldsquid, I sent you a PM.
One of my favourite tracks - so sad.

Miller is such a lovely flowing track and I’ve got great memories of WSBK/ AMA in 2008. Carlos Checa won both races on Sunday (on a Honda) after not winning a race in 10 years and it was the beginning of his revival. Saw Bayliss, Corser, Haga, Biaggi as well as Duhamel in AMA -but the highlight was the clash between Spies and Mladin. Ben wouldn’t give an inch and Mladin cart-wheeled his bike off track in front of me through the ‘Attitudes’ section. He was uninjured (or didn’t show it), but man was he pissed off.

Yeah I think Wayne Rainey & MotoAmerica will be proposing some kind of deal but probably not to buy it.
Maybe John Ulrich and a few other investors will place an offer or maybe Michael Jordan will just sign a check for a cool $200 million and buy it outright.
Should be interesting to see what happens!
