So it all started a couple months ago. Some of you may remember my "New Bike" posting when I bought myself a 2013 Aprilia T V4. Well, I got to drive it home and park it in the garage, remove the seat and send it to Janice at Slim's. Then it started, I was given a Lead Hand postition for a control panel replacement job with the company I work for (I am an Electrician). It just happened to be in the middle of the Pine Pass in northern BC. So, I was going North, I sent my wife on a vacation East to visit family in Sask for as long as she wanted. I was suppose to be gone for 42 days. Well, I left home on March 28th and I am still here living a hotel room in Mackenzie (1hr from job site). I have been home for two days in that time to see my wife......... and lust over my new Italian. The project has gone on longer than expected but the day has finally come for me to leave. Tomorrow is a stat so its a Triple time day and on Tuesday I get to do the drive home and I get to stay, go insure the Tuono and go for a long ride. Let my riding season begin
It hasn't been all bad up here though. I have had to take some days off because I am only allowed to work 12 days then I have to take 1 off. So I have gone for a couple good hikes. One up the mountian behind Azouzetta Lake, which involed snowshoes and about a 1.5hr climb (elev gain of about 1000m). Beautiful views from up there. Sat and had lunch for about 45min and called the wife from the mtn top. The way down was a blast, removed the snowshoes, strapped them to the backpack, held the hiking poles and skied on my boots down an avalanche chute for about 1km, what a riot!!! Not recommended unless you really know the snow conditions.
The other good thing was the pay. Good raise for taking on the project and lots of OT. All that equated to almost 4X my normal weekly income. The mortgage will love me for it!! And the story continues, I get to work on two more projects this year, one in Hope and one in Williams Lake. Both are closer to home so the wife will come spend some time and visit. Works out well considering all is paid for by the company.
For those of you who read this, this is a couple minutes of your life you won't get back, haha. I just wanted to share this little part of my boring life in a hotel room from Mackenzie BC. And yes I feel extremely blessed to have the life and job I have. It affords me some toys and the ability for my wife to choose if she wants to work or not.
A couple pics from part way up the mountian
