On June 19th i went in for laser eye surgery. It's been 11 days now and guess what..........................still no regrets i had been thinkin about it for some time now and finally decided that it was gonna be now or never. The bike fund was cashed in favor of sight. I picked Valley Laser Eye Centre in abbotsford mostly because it was close to home in case any problems occured. I didn't wanna have to drive to New West or Van if something happened. Plus i heard the doc was really good.
I went in on the 17th and had a sit down with the doc, he outlined the procedure for me, told me the risks, worst case scenerios and answered all my questions. He acted professional and sincere and what struck me the most was that he was modest. Doc Blaylock has been around for a while doin this stuff and i'm sure he's loaded up the ass cause he averages like 10 of them a week at close to $3000 a pair. The week i went in he was doing 22....anyways, he was nice to talk to and i liked being in control. He made me feel okay to back out if i wanted, and its nice to know that its not all about money. His staff was nice as well a few of them had had the procedure done.
I went in on the 19th, the prep took some time, about an hour, but the actuall laser surgery was about 3 minutes. It didn't exactly hurt but it didn't exactly not hurt either. I felt him press against the eye and that kindof hurt, and it was diffictult to focus on the red light but nothing that i couldn't do again. Afterwards i was taken to a dark room for about 20 mins and had shields taped on my eyes. Then i went home
once home i had to lay in bed all day, and thats when the pain kicked in. Felt like soap in my eyes. and i couldn't touch the eyes. it felt like that for about 3 hours, and when it finally passed it never came back. I passed out after about 6 hours of just layin there. The next morning....
I COULD SEE
went back to the doc, my vision was 20/15 i was seein stuff i hadn't before. the pain was gone, it felt normal. The eyes had to have 2 sets of drops put in 4 times a day and tears whenever they felt dry but after 7 days the antibiotics were no longer needed. and the tears were use when needed. It's day 11 and i feel fine. I've driven at nite and i haven't seen those halo's some people get, he told me that he would do a procedure to compensate for that....and i guess he did cause i ain't seein them. Every so often my eyes get tired but thats normal and will pass when i heal completely, and once i use drops thier fine again. I still reach for my head sometimes expecting glasses, especially at night after watchin tv and i'm about to pass out. Anyone thinkin about do your research, check prices and ask people. My doc was a little pricier than that comp but i found him worth it. I paid the extra $550 for the consultation fees but thats optional. the total surgery cost me
$2400 + $550
would i do it again???
