Hi all, if I've read and understood the rules correctly it sounds like one can attend a track day @ Mission and/or participate in the Race School with minimal bike prep (just taped lights/signals/plate) but in order to actually race, "full prep" is required. Am I correct?
If that is the case then it dosn't sound like racing one's street bike is all that feasible, given:
Carriers, mirrors and turn signals and any touring-style fairings must be removed. Engine guards may be required at the Chief Technical Inspector’s discretion (see Rules 18 and 19 below).
o. All side and center stands must be removed.
q. All lenses (both reflective and headlight) must be removed.
r. All light bulbs must be removed and horns disconnected.
Installing a belly pan, replacing the coolant with non-glycol based, and safety wiring wouldn't be a big deal - but if the complete removal of head/tail lights, turn signals, and side stand is required then the amount of work required to prep a street bike for a race weekend becomes somewhat significant. Am I wrong in my estimation of how time consuming those last bits would be? For the record I'm talking about a 2000 SV650s.
