The other day I was returning home from Buntzen lake when I stopped for a red light on Blue Mountain. Coming the other way is a scooter, and he runs the red light. And I mean it was red for a good second before he entered the intersection. As he passes by I see he's got a little girl, maybe 8 years old, on the back, wearing nothing but a cheap-ass styrofoam bicycle helmet.
I wear my gear all the time, but I respect the right of others to choose to ride without. But to allow a little kid, who is not old enough to understand the implications, to ride with you without even a decent motorcycle helmet is unconcionable. And on top of that, to ride the damn scooter so irresponsibly! I wanted to turn around and smack that asshole upside the head for so blatantly jeapordizing the life of that child.
Fortunately it was a minor intersection, and the single car going in the cross direction had good visibility. No harm done this time. But man was I pissed.
