I wish I was able to come to the fundraiser last night. I'll try to be at Greg Moore Raceway for Jake's send off on Sept 13th (Jake leaves for France the next day!)
Stay relaxed on the bike and keep it fun Jake!
Excellent event last night, Claude, Jake's parents and sister and Stephanie all did a fantastic job. And Claude you're doing a magical thing here with putting Johann Zarco and Jake together, and again I'm jealous I can't be part of the entourage going to France......
Great night out. Thanks Claude for putting this together. Even if someone won the 50/50 AGAIN. Damn horse shoes.
Just to add a few bucks more to Jake I've just finished building a seat and have some left over material. I'll recover a sport solo seat and add some padding to whoever wants to donate a few dollars to Jakes' cause. Here's what the material looks like, so if you have a red and black bike let me know.

So how did Jake do on a bike he has never ridden before and on a track he has never seen before and against the best 14 & 15yr old mini racers in France?
Tell us everything Claude!
Bart: What's Santa's Little Helper doing to that dog? Looks like he's trying to jump over, but he can't quite make it.
This was a great experience for Jake ,
The plans were for practice and racing in France, the FFM red tape made it that Jake did not take part of any practice.
None of the kids have raced or seen this circuit.
Jake was on a loaner bike, although similar to the ones he rides here, the bike had generic settings unlike his own bike here where the suspension and other settings are set up for his weight, height, riding style, etc...
First session, free practice
Jake immediately got the attention of everyone, his riding style, his smooth and fast cornering, his coolness in the paddock.
First practice session ended up with Jake having the second best lap times in the 1:16's
2nd session, 15 minutes qualifying session.
Jake again was the focus of the crowd, leading the qualifying until near the end where Hugo achieved a faster time.
Jake qualified second with lap time in the 1:14's.
3rd session, 14 lap race. 22.4 kms
At home, Jake races 8 laps for a total of 9.6 kms. This race is 2.33 times longer than what he usually races.
Jake is starting the race in second position, great start and he soon finds himself battling for the lead with Hugo, he passes hugo and leads the races for a few laps, this goes on back and forth the whole race, near the 12th lap, hugo takes the lead and Jake finishes second, only 2.6 seconds behind.
Lap times are in the 1:12's.
4th session, 15 minutes qualifying session.
Lap times remained in the 1:12's for the fast kids. Jake qualifies third for the afternoon race, still in the 1:12's.
5th session. 14 lap race. 22.4 kms
Jake had a great start, quickly battling for first, he takes the lead and on lap 4, he went off the track and in an attempt to return to the track, he tucked in the front end.
Jake was disappointed, the whole crowd and atmosphere deflated as soon as they noticed that Jake wasn't in the race anymore.
In the end, Jake was the only kid with a lap time in the 1:11's. Fastest lap of the day.
There were awards ceremonies at the end, Jake received the biggest cheer of the day when his name was called to receive his second place trophy for race 1.
Jake made a great impression with Laurent Fellon, Zarco's coach and manager.
Jake has an open invitation to return to train and race with them next year AT NO COST.
In the Yamaha Academy press release, they mentioned that Jake is the only kid that has ever challenged Hugo's supremacy.
Hugo won all races this year,
Next year, Hugo is racing in the Yamaha R3 challenge cup.
I would suggest that his next fundraiser should be in Langley. I'm pretty sure attendance and donations would be more. Chilliwack is a bit of a drive
No trees were harmed to display the above message ..... however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced
Cool. Can't wait to get Maxine out there next year riding "his" bike lol... which I will also be riding...
