O.k. so I'm not much of a Headline writer, but today we rode through the worst hailstorm anyone has ever seen.
We were riding back from a nice sunny & hot rip through the Merritt Loop. Enjoying the dry landscape against the blue sky backdrop with the occasional whispy cloud.
All was fine until we got on to Hwy #1 from Hope. A huge dark cloud looms ahead and before you know it, we were riding through a hailstorm the size of golf balls. Literally!!
You know it was bad when even all the cars had to pull to aside because they can't see a damn thing. It was torrential rainfall mixed in with gigantic hail and a dash of lighting for good measure. One other biker on the road said the lighting stopped 3' from his side. I'd say there was a good 6" of water on the road mixed with these killer hail balls rolling around. And to think we're in the middle of July already.
Good thing this didn't last all the way home. It calmed down after Chilliwack and was dry again once we hit Langley.
That's one I'll write down in my dairy to tell my kids. Weird!
