    ZX7R Ninja Chronicles

Picked up this 2002 green classic on the weekend. Definitely on my bucket list of rides, wanted one of these since I was 18.

Needs a couple of items (tires, maybe brakes, I'll likely rejet). But overall in great shape, and the price was perfect ($2,500!). I'm looking forward to a nice winter of tinkering with the needed items, and do some easy no cost mods from the vast amount of info available online.

On my third Kawi - must be a thing..

They're professionals when it comes to emptying a pocket book so if you decide to go that route remember that you are not paying them to be with you.

    You're paying them to leave.

Nice. I loved the two I owned, classic lines!

Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

That's an awesome ride for $2500. Looks like it's in really good shape.

Thanks guys. Definitely not cutting edge (GSXR's ate this thing's lunch THIRTEEN years ago!), but the first time I saw one back in the day it touched a nerve. Something about those fist sized ram air intakes, the dual headlight and the green paint made it the quintessential sport bike for me.

Surprisingly the D&D is not overly loud, though I haven't had it over 6K rpms on account of the shi**y tires, and I didn't bother plating it for the winter (so just around the block joy rides).

Who gives a shit...if the bike makes you smile from ear to ear then it's the right bike. Too many folks need the top line bike just it go hang out at Starbucks in Squamish...that zx7 is a great bike, I've ridden lots and sure they're heavy but so what it's a solid bike that deserves the right owner that can bring her back. Congratulations post up lots of pics when done. I'm old that's why I still ride an RC51 because it's old like.

I'll keep the thread going with some random updates as I get this thing road ready over the next few months. I don't think anyone minds some random bike pics/love.

I'm trying to keep costs down to a minimum so I don't dump a ton of money into this thing, so trying to keep the required parts sourced from the Craigs/Kijiji route, as well as do all the maintenance myself.

Did an oil change in prep for storage:

I scored a nice rear tire for $50 online (you can see how worn the rear is in the pic above).

Need to yank off the fuel tank and take a look at the carbs. Apparently 'there's a jet kit in there bro', but who knows which. I wouldn't mind taking a look, check the air filter (likely replace), put some oil i the cylinders while she sleeps.

Next in order is to lubricate all points in the rear, see if I can get a decent deal on sprockets. New quick turn throttle (ZX10 mod) and then keep an eye out for a new taller screen and taller clip ons/lower pegs. The knee bend is crazy uncomfortable for me so hopefully the bars/pegs help.
