My dear friend and motorcycle enthusiast Nancy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia less than two months ago. Nancy is 51 years old, she is of Dutch Indonesian origin and has a nasty chromosome called Philadelphia which makes her cancer very aggressive. She will not survive if she doesn’t find a donor for stem cell transplant. Her three brothers were tested for bone marrow transplant and were found incompatible. Nothing in Canadian National stem cell bank is a match for her.
Her co-workers started a campaign and organized a stem cell drive through media and social media to solicit people to come and get tested for possible compatibility.
Global BC ran the episode in the News Hour yesterday and in the Morning News hour today. CBC also covered the story.
OneMatch program with Canadian Blood Services is looking for healthy 17 to 35 year old people of diverse ethnical backgrounds to help Nancy and people like her.
Please consider registering as a stem cell donor to help Nancy and people like her.
