Well as the thread title says... I'm having trouble with my tail light. It doesn't turn on unless I hit the brakes.
I took the tail light assembly apart and was actually kinda suprised to find 3 wires connected to the bulb. I always assumed that there would only be two wires and when you hit the brakes it increases the current to the bulb making it brighter.
Anyways, now I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe I need a new bulb? I notice that there are two filaments inside the bulb. Only one lights up when I use the brake and the other one just never lights ups. It doesn't appear to be broken or anything. I connected a small light bulb to each of the three wires and here are the combinations...
Green/Yellow + Red = Light is only on for brake
Green/Yellow + Green = Light is only on for brake
Red + Green = Light does not turn on at all
I couldn't find a combination where the light is running constantly so I'm not sure what's wrong. I know nothing about electronics and I don't have a multimeter either so that doesn't help.
