Just to help out any newbies or non-helmet guru's. Just an FYI
Ducati Vancouver is having a clearance sale on helmets. A good chunk of their corsair V's and other Arai's are anywhere between 2-4 years old, and their asking price isn't a sale price. Their advertising these on ebay and on craigslist online right now.
For example: $850 for a 4 yr old Corsair V. These helmets 4 years ago were selling for $850. Don't be fooled, although these helmets are brand new, the ones I saw were all 4 years old in the Corsair V line up. They try to justify this price with the CDN dollar being low, but keep in mind 4 years ago these were selling for the same price and they are the same helmets that have been sitting on their showroom being tried by customers. These helmets have been collecting dust on the showroom floor. Arai also won't warranty their helmets beyond 5 years from what I gather also. A more reasonable price might be 50% of that price, but personally I wouldn't buy it at that price for a near expired helmet from the manufacturer.
I'm usually very impressed with their Leather Dainese gear, but the education and sales tactics on these older helmets is appalling. I asked the sales girls about the age of them and advise them nicely, "hey, these are 4 years old based on the stamp inside the helmet, 1 yr left in warranty, how are still not discounted more?". They looked at me and didn't know how to respond. Nice enough sales reps, just not very in tune with their helmet stock.
Just want to inform any riders considering buying helmets from them. Modern also sells a lot of older helmets, but at least they slash their prices knowing how old their helmets are. I'm not an advocate for either, just trying to educate anyone getting a new helmet this year since the weather should be clearing up soon for riding!
