I wasnt laughing at this earlier but I can laugh now.
Would be bike thief does the usual screwdriver-locking pliers bit to bust off the ignition lock. He proceeds to start my bike up (with super loud Yoshimura exhausts) and begins to power away.
Little does the dumbass realize that there is a disk lock installed on the front rotor. I even had the CABLE attached to the bars from the lock to remind myself about this. I was parked by a street light so it was definetly visible.
The idjot makes it about 5 feet down the road with the front brakes locked before he dumps it. Ouch. Had he had enough?
Of course NOT. He picks up the bike (probably with a buddy) and tries to ride away again. Another 5 feet, CRASH.
By this time the neighbours were on the ball (this guy was trying REALLY hard) and the cops showed up with in 5 minutes with a K9 team and everything but he got away.
Moral of the story? Preperation!
I installed frame sliders on the bike before I even owned it. They saved pretty much everything except the mirrors (few minor dents here and there). He managed to spread the damage equally by dumping the bike on both sides.
Disk locks, though somewhat underrated, ARE a real BIATCH to ppl like these.
Hope you had a fun 2 second, 10 foot ride jerkass........
