    Bad Rap for Bikers

Finding the truth to this article would be like finding a needle in a hay stack but either way it makes motorcyclists look bad.

Interesting footnote that your link left out.

Police charged the 22-year-old man, identified as Andrei Sisu, with possession of drugs and dangerous driving, driving under suspension, and violating novice driver restrictions. Sisu was in hospital recovering from head injuries and a fractured shoulder before appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing Friday. The woman, who was later picked up by Peel Regional Police, is not currently facing any charges, Schmidt said.

Yeah it's a story about motorcyclist (probably) acting poorly. In and of itself it doesn't give motorcyclists a bad name, but the public is ready to believe it because they see themselves, on their own streets, motorcyclist acting poorly; aggressive riding, passing on double yellow, excessively loud pipes, etc.

*I like how Nancy is always hammering home at PMTD how we are all ambassadors for the sport. This story is a good example of the alleged type of riding we should keep to time and place; perhaps then joe public would be more willing to believe that these riders are the exception.*

i drive a mini van for a living; i dont go out on the road thinking any of the above somehow says something about me.. they're just assholes, surprise the world is full of 'em.. both genders included

    True!

Today I was passing a slower car on a long straight. There was oncoming in the distance, plenty of room for a top gear roll on. That's what I did.

To my surprise I am not passing as swiftly as I thought I should, I'm not nearly as far ahead of the car as I normally am (I don't like to zip in front of cars I pass, in case it makes them nervous or upset). Is my bike not running properly? How could I have not noticed? I've used up twice the space I thought I should need to pass.

I glance at my speedometer... the car I am passing has picked up an extra 50km/h since I began my pass. WTF? Who does that?

As much as I would have liked to ask that driver what his thinking was, it would never make any sense.
There are old riders and there are bold riders. There aren't any old, bold riders.

    Ride safe folks.

thats pretty much exactly what happened to us today.. i passed a car, and when my buddy tried to follow, damn it if the idiot driver didnt step on the gas and generally behaved like an asshat

i missed most of it as i was able to get ahead of traffic pretty quick, apparently this insane dude on a white car was driving very dangerously around a couple of friends of mine, stateside.. total in-breed, you know the type..

i dont know what the deal was but i guess he didnt like a couple of bikers passing him, nothing illegal at all, very far from it.. goes to show there's an idiot born every minute.. and the very next some moron hands him a license

Lots of people, unfortunately. Part of the reason I usually just chill in the right lane with the cruise control set a few ticks over the limit. I'm so done with the drama.*
