Yesterday morning I received a phone call from a co-worker that a motorcycle had crashed about 2km down from the top. I work at firstaid so 4 or 5 mt. staff drove down to the scene. There were a few people there already a nurse and a retired para-medic. We helped load the guy on our spine board and loaded him into the ambulance when it got there. They drove him back up about 1km. to our lower parking lot where a heli-coptor arrived about 10 min. later and evaced him to St.Joe's in Comox. He was in fairly serious condition with head injuries(helmet came off in crash) concussion, fractured ankle, compound fractured arm/elbow, decreased LOC and was fairly combative due to his injuries. I due think however that he will make a full recovery. Which is more than I can say for his bike.
Looks like he got into a turn to hot and locked up the brakes. There is about 10m of skid marks folled by gouge marks in the road. There was about a 4 foot drop off the road onto some nasty rocks. He went a little farther but his bike went alot farther shedding parts along the way. It was some crusier type of bike not sure what type, not much left of it. Anyways made for a interesting morning.
