I gave in and bought a bike for racing next year. I bought a 1989 Yamaha RZ350 (36,000 k ), Wiseco 2nd overbore, skimmed head, ported and polished, TZR connecting rods, 32mm carbs, racing power reeds, K/N two into one intake, White booster bottle, Barnett racing clutch, new tires, new sprocket and chain, and new brakes.
I could not resist the price, Engine only has 600km on rebuild when the two pistons melted from a lean mixture resulting from an air leak. I have the new pistons and rings, the cylinders are bored and I am just waiting for a gasket now. The bike has the full fairings, new windshield, and a new seat. The bike is in awsome shape.
I am going to paint the bike flat black with a gloss black frame, engine, and wheels. I know this is not the best race bike but I thought it would be good for a start. I do need to race prep the bike, if anyone knows all the rules and tricks please PM me if you can help get it ready at some point. any advice in regards to racing this bike would also be appreciated.
