I was unconscious, lying in the middle of the road, when the first vehicle pulled up to me (not too far south of Whistler). My bike was about 150m away ahead of me, on the road as well, I think. There were no witnesses who saw what happened to me. I don’t know if whatever happened was primarily my fault; I find that hard to swallow, as I was following two older who were riding at very comfortable pace. As far as I can remember, I wasn’t pushing myself. Needless to say I was probably riding over the speed limit at the time, but not by much, and maybe not at all- most sportsbikers would have passed the group I was tagging along with, but I wasn’t in the mood to do anything crazy. I have no idea of what happened, other than that I must have low-sided it, going by the officer’s damage report. Maybe there was some gravel or oil on the road… I really don’t know, and neither did the officer that surveyed the area. Hopefully a more thorough investigation was done at some point yesterday, or will be done later on. I was told that the only vehicle debris on the road was from my bike, so I doubt anyone actually hit me- I might just clipped someone, or they clipped me… or maybe I took a fall when I was trying to avoid someone. It’s so hard to believe that I simply just lost it, because of the way I was riding… and I had some newer tires on that would have long been completely warm-up at the point of my going down.
Anyhow, I was wondering if either of the two riders, which were riding ahead of me, are on this board. I guess both of them turned around once they noticed I was no longer following them, and then saw the ambulance heading in the direction opposite to their own. I remember one of them talking to me sometime before the ambulance took me away, telling me that I was a good rider, and that I wasn’t doing anything crazy. My officer also told me that they’d visited the hospital, just to see how I was doing, and reiterated that I was driving negligently. Anyhow, if you’re here, thanks for looking out for me. I’ll try to see if either of them left their name with the hospital or police station.
And I’ll try to get some nice pictures soon, once I get a hold of a digital camera.
