Hey ladies -
If anyone in the Vancouver area has ever thought about playing rugby, it's never too late to start. I play for the Meralomas, as does Siren (Inferno's wife) - it's a great club, very supportive. Our team is very friendly, and we range in age from 17 to 30something, and we have a wide range of occupations.
We take and train rookies - some of our best players have only been playing a year or two. And almost no one knows anything about the game when they start playing. Last year we won our division and moved up into the top division. But don't let that scare you - we are actively looking for new players - if we get enough we'd like to run two teams.
Rugby is a wonderfully fun game, and there's a position for everyone, no matter what size or shape. We play full contact and according to normal rules and times.
So, if this piques your interest, come on out to practice and see how you like it. We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 at Connaught Park at West 10th and Balsam in Vancouver, and our games are on Saturday starting on Sept 6.
Oh, and four of us ride (though Siren is currently bikeless).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me!
