When: Sunday, August 17
Where to: Cultus Lake, Chilliwack
Why: I heard it's a nice ride so I wanna do it.
Meeting point:

10am - McDonalds @ Russ Baker Way, Richmond (YVR South Terminal), or

10:45am- Chevron @ Boundary Road, Vancouver (1 Block South of Grandview on East side)

~11:30am - Chevron @ 232nd Street, Langley

Pace:Moderate. This ride will mainly be dictated by the lowest common denominator. Least skilled or slowest bike (e.g. 250cc)
Who:This is a casual, social ride to enjoy the open road and the company of other riders. If you're looking to see how fast you can get to Cultus Lake then we'll see you there. Welcomed are 250cc bikes and "seasoned newbies" (meaning NOT for those that just got their license and this is your first group ride).
I was a little hesitant in posting this especially having read about the recent incidents with group rides. But after some consideration I realized that this is the nature of our sport and hopefully we all learn from our mistakes, and from others, so this should not prevent us from having SAFE fun. So for those who may be interested please read the following carefully before replying.

This is a social ride so any excessive speeding or stunting will not be tolerated. I've got nothing against those that do, it's just this is not the time nor place to be doing this.

If there is a large group it will be broken into smaller groups of 4-6 riders and will be based on experience. (e.g. newbies separated from intermediate) And, hence, the pace of the group will vary according to the skill level.

I'll be at the McDonalds @ 9am to grab breakfast (anyone wanna join me?) and then the plan is to leave by 10am (10:15am the latest). Go over Arthur Laing, along SW Marine Drive, then north on Boundary to the Chevron.

If necessary, break into smaller groups at Chevron, assess skill level and appropriate speed limit. Then leave Chevron by 11:15am. We'll enter Hwy 1 at Grandview Hwy, and will ride in the HOV lane for as long as we can.

Take the 232nd Street exit and hook up with those waiting at Chevron

As per the attached map, we'll exit at #11 and follow the Old Yale Road to Vedder Crossing. I hear Majuba Hill Road is a nice ride.

I'm thinking we meet at Cultus Lake, grab a bite and ensure everyone arrived ok, and then we'll go on the twisty country roads behind Chilliwack in the Ryder Lake area. (see map)

Bring beach wear and hang at Cultus Lake before riding home. (?)

I know this is a long and detailed posting but because it's my first, and given the the latest crashes I just want to be clear and lay down the rules so those that are interested know the expectations.

Please reply to this post only if you know you are coming. Also, let me know if you're interested in leading a group.

I'm not interested in knowing that you may come or why you cannot. This will make it easier for me to have a head count. Of course, you can just show up at the designated meeting spots.

If you're coming, please print a copy of the map for your reference.

This ride will happen with weather permitting.

Look forward to meeting some new faces.
