Well folks, I just had my first brush with death this afternoon. I was riding up to my cross street to turn left and go home, I pulled up behind a Subaru Outback also waiting to turn left. The light went green and the Subaru turned left immedietly, I waited for one car to pass then also proceeded to turn left, the Subaru was about two car lengths in front of me slightly slowing down to the right. As I closed my distance to the car it all of a sudden pulled a U-turn right in front of me. I had enough time to get on the brakes enough to get the rear wheel in the air just before impact. I hit the Subaru with the front right of the bike, the bike then slammed sideways into the car and pinned me between the bike and the car, the bike then fell over onto its other side with me with it. I am really sore but in one piece, the bike has some damage from the right side impact as well as the left side fall over. Both foot peg brackets are bent and most plastics were effected in some way or another. The left side engine cover is thrashed and the upper winshield fairing is cracked. The rear left of the swing arm is road rashed and the front wheel fairing broken, pipe is damaged, the list goes on. My helmet also has a small crack. I could not believe the damge to the Subaru!! I must have caused well over $2000.00 in damage, most of it from my body.
The guys driving the Subaru were from Ontario on holiday, the Subaru was a rental car. They were actually pretty cool about everything and admitted full fault. I am not really sure what to do next, any suggestions?
Advice would help.....
