I'm plannig on purchasing a 92 ZX7 tomorrow. The seller is the 2nd owner, a reputable guy, not shady in the least (homeowner, married). We were hooked up through a friend of mine who works for an insurance broker (so he's not gonna disappear after).
He said the bike's never been dropped (he's had it for like a year and a bit I think). I did a VIN search just to be sure and this is what came up:
Claim History - this vehicle has 4 claim(s)
Was the vehicle reported as Salvage, Rebuilt, Altered? NO
Was the vehicle imported from outside BC? NO
Are there any ICBC claims involving vehicle damage? YES
18-May-1998 COLLISION $1403.46 REPAIRS
21-Nov-1996 COMPREHENSIVE $974.49 REPAIRS
03-Oct-1996 COLLISION $53.71 REPAIRS
17-Jun-1996 THEFT FROM VEHICLE $3287.20 REPAIRS
Are these amounts paid reason to worry? Or do they just reflect cosmetic damage? He's been getting it regularly serviced at Holeshot racing and he says they can vouch for it's mechanical soundness. I'm calling them now.
I want this bike, should I go through with the sale, should i take it to Burnaby Kawasaki regardless of what Holeshot tells me?
What should I do, guys?
