I was coming back from a great ride today with some members and we all took different ways back home. As I came up to the Aldergrove border crossing there was a little line up. I pull my bike right up next to this really nice old fella on a cruiser and started a nice conversation with him. We both took off are helmets because of the heat and because the line was at a dead stop. We both were just putting along maybe a car length at a time. The U.S. border patrol had a stop before we reached Canadian soil, no big deal. When we reached it he asked us to put are helmets back on, no problem. The old guy I was with didn't do his strap up because 2 seconds later he was going to have to take it back off. Well the U.S. border dude freaked out on him big time screaming at him to stop, and so he did. He was then pulled over and insulted by calling him names and sh*t. I was like he's 65 years old man, he wasn't doing anything that wrong to deserve that treatment. He was then brought into U.S. customs questioned, searched, and interrogated. It was disgusting the way he was treated. I almost thought they were going to shot him the way they were going. This isn't a bash towards Americans, I just thought they were way out of line but what can you do about it. I figured the only thing I could do is not ride in the states ever again..... I don't know if this is a one in a million situation but I've had it with there politics. And to disrespect an elder makes me wanna puke. To bad because I had an awesome day today riding in the states until that happened.
