Court room 204 Vancouver Traffic Court today. 18 year old wearing a FCUK t-shirt with FCUK everything...and I mean everything on it stands up in court 204 and is immediately "dressed down" by the JP. Told to leave the court room and change his clothes. Alternative was to go outside for 5 mins and think about his choice of clothes for court.
Even the cops and the prosecutor were helping this guy out when he went outside. They suggested he turn his shirt inside out which solved the problem. Guy reenters the court to plead guilty to the charges hoping to get a fine reduction. This guy is remorseful about driving drunk and doing a minor hit and run. He's a student and is working two part-time jobs to save for tuition.
He pleads guilty and the JP says to him that he will go home and write out an essay about the responsibilities of driving, etc and if he doesn't do it, a $200 fine will be imposed on him.
Wow, I don't think it was even $200 had he just paid his tickets to begin with.
Any legal beagles out there who can advise on this?
Even the coppers were left stunned.
