And the work continues at a (yawn) ferverish pace.....
The racing plastic isn't going to make it here in time unless a miracle happens so I'm going ahead with making the rules mandated oil catch tray for the bottom of the stock fairing. I've hot glued on a plug of white styrofoam and carved/sanded it to shape to blend with the fairing. The next step is to wrap this all with some stretch wrap as used on pallets as a mold release. Then I'm going to cut and lay up some fiberglass on a sheet of garbage bag plastic and pull it up around the belly and tape it all in place until cured. A little trimming and it's done. It will be held in place by the 4 lower fairing mount screws.
Remember, this is Team Cheap!!!!
Heres the bike with the back wheel and footpegs off so I can work around the belly;
And here's a worm's eye view of the foam plug that blends around the exhaust pipe. Yes I know I sanded a hole through but I'll just tape on some thin sheet aluminium before I wrap it with the realease plastic.
