ICBC can "eat the cheese off my helmet".
I rear-ended someone in my car in stop and go traffic on the highway a few weeks ago on my way home from work. No big deal, the front of my 94 Civic went right under the back of his 90'ish Pathfinder. His trailer hitch nailed my hood pretty good and my bumper was barely hanging on on the right front side. There was this kinda weird hole in the front right corner of the bumper too.
Basically, my car looked like Jean Chretien. But it was still driveable.
I drove home and decided to look into repairing privately rather than making a claim as there wasn't too much (if any) damage to his old beater Pathfinder.
I finally made the claim over this past weekend because it turned out it was going to cost at least as much as my insurance increases over the next 3 years.
Because it was my fault, and I freely admit it (I take responsibility for my actions when they're my fault), I got to do the "Express Claim" where I just go to the repair shop and they take some pictures, send them in to ICBC and I come back a week later to get the repairs done.
Not so easy, apparently. I got a call from the estimator today telling me that that odd little hole doesn't appear to be from the same accident. He said "the front hood damage is consistent with the trailer hitch, but I don't see how that hole could have come from this same incident."
I assured him that I don't drive around with holes in my car or I would have already made a claim and that it was probably from something on the underside of the Pathfinder, such as a muffler or a leaf spring or something.
He didn't sound too convinced...doubting, in fact. He said he has to look at the vehicle. Fine. "I work out of the asslicking motherfucking East Van claim centre and we're open from 8:30 - 4:00". (Almost his exact words)
When the hell am I supposed to go in? I work 9 - 5. He can't just zip out to my work to look at the car because I rode today. My car's in a (not very) secure underground at home so he can't just go look at it there. My appointment to get the damage fixed is for next Tuesday morning.
I called him back and told him he can either drive out to my apartment and my gf will let him in to look at it or he can transfer the whole claim to Lake City because that's basically where I live...and they open at 7:30.
He's going to call me back.
I hate these pigfuckers. The worst part is that I'm being totally honest and they're just being bastards about it. He was so condescending too.
