So about 8 weeks ago I take my new Honda VFR into my local dealership (name hidden to protect the guilty) for it's first service. Speaking with the 'service manager' I tell him I want to book an appointment for my VFR. His first question is "Is that the 600 or 1000cc bike", to which I reply "Um, It's a 800 cc bike". At this point I'm frightened but know at least that this guy is not a tech so he wont actually be touching my bike.
The day of the appointment I drop off the bike and inform him that recently I have been noticing a vibration at 4800 rpm that causing a buzz in the fairing. To which he replies "Oh that's the cam chain tensioner, we have had problems with those". Now keep in mind that he did not even listen to my bike at this point. Luckily they didn't have the cam chain tensioner in stock or they would have ripped into my bike. I checked with others on a VFR website and no-one has heard of a problem with the new VFR's cam chain tensioners.
Is this frightening or what??
