So, after commuting to work on my bike for almost 2 years now, I've realized that having cars start (and sometimes continue) to change lanes into my bike is pretty much a given.
When I first started riding, I'd get scared as it was happening, and pissed at the driver when it was over.... now I just calmly get out of the way... and usually look for a wave or some kind of apology afterwards...
This happens so often, I'd normally not post about it... except yesterday it was a Vancouver police car that tried to drive into me.
I guess he saw me when he shoulderchecked sine he swerved back into his own lane, and I give him credit because at the next light he rolled down his window and shouted an apology to me.
The ironic part was that if it was any other car, I wouldn't have been next to him, but I didn't want to blast by the cop car, so I slowed down a bit and was beside him long enough for him to change lanes into me.
