Ok... I disconnected the fuel line and the vacuum line... Then I removed the tank. Now before I put everything back together is there anything I need to know? I was just thinking that the fuel line is going to have a nice air bubble in it from when I disconnected it and all the fuel ran out. Will this air bubble work its way out on its own or do I need to bleed it out somehow? And yes... You're all absolutely right. I have no idea what I'm doing.
Your bike may have a prime setting on the petcock. Turn it to that when you reinstall the tank and it'll be fine. If it just has run and reserve, set it to run and slosh the fuel in the tank back and forth a few times, then fire it.
I know my tank has a cutoff valve at its base, to stop the flow of gas if the tank is removed. Make sure you turn that back on before you hook everything up -- or you'll have to take it all off again!
Thanks a lot for the help guys. I'm trying to learn more about bikes by taking mine apart. Hopefully it all goes back together properly
