The riding season is almost over, the monsoon season has already started, but by some miracle, there was actually a few moments of blue sky today. So, my wife and I decided to go for a small ride.
I saw the news about Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton and how they are battling floods and washed away roads. I bought The Province paper to see where the roads were closed, and discovered that it was still open up to Squamish. I figured "If the road is closed past Squamish, I bet there will be no-one driving that way". WRONG! (Just how many people live in Sqaumish anyway?)
The roads were dry, and the weather was fine until about 10km outside of Squamish, then it got cloudy foggy, and wet. The big waterfall on the right was a sight to see though. Had a bite to eat and a coffee at Tim Hortons (not Starbucks) before heading back. Met up with someone on a BMW and blue VFR, so we made a little foursome for a while. I let someone in a white sports car pass me, so he could smoke out any tax collectors, and he set a pretty good pace for a little while.
All in all, it was a nice day for a ride, but my hopes of seeing an empty highway full of twisties was ruined again.
