A group of us who hang out on the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum did a juant back and forth across the USA in March for the IBA 50cc and or 100ccc rides.
Well we are doing it again in April of 2004 !! For those of you who don't know the deal the 50cc is 50 hours or less San Diego to Jacksonville ( or vice versa) and the 100ccc is simply there and back in 100 hours
The IBA has some preliminary rides yoou need to do to qualify for this ride but this group has the time and the bikes to get those details out of the way. This is not a race but is a ride where fuel stop management and time management is key. Last year I screwed the pooch and missed out on the 100ccc but managed to do 2 50 cc's.
I am riding it again this year. Last year Randy Hay ( another GS rider from vancouver) and I were the only Canadians in the ride.
Hopefully we can get a few more this year. If your want to learn more please go to
The next ride we have planned is Vancouver to Halifax or vice versa in early June. The times for that are 75 hours gold or 90 hours regular.
For info on the 50 /100 ccc go to the Iron Butt website
By the way last year a couple in their 50's did the Jacksonville - San diego- Jacksonville ride in 99 hours and 45 minutes two up on a Busa.
