WIND NW 65 km/h
GUSTS 83 km/h
Yeehaw... some nice gusty conditions out there...
We've really had some crazy weather, haven't we? From a crazy dry spell to crazy rainstorms to dense fog to strong winds...
Anyways, pretty interesting day today... was going home in the morning when I heard on the radio about the huge fire at the plaza mall at Fraser and 17th, and since I only live a few minutes away, decided to swing by there... and was it ever a scene there... they closed down Fraser for like five blocks and there were probably a dozen fire trucks there for the there alarm fire. I was there at about 7:30am and by that time, the fire wasn't visible anymore, but there was still tons of smoke pouring out of the building, which pretty much choked the entire neighbourhood.
Then while working this afternoon at 4:45pm, a huge explosion rocked the neighbourhood around Broadway and Main. All three huge circuit breakers on the power pole right outside our building had blown, and it felt like and sounded like a bomb had gone off, and then all our power went out instantly. Even our UPS failed to stay on for more than three seconds, and the building across the street which has tons of expensive equipment because they process Visa purchases or something also had their UPS' fail on 'em... guess there was a gigantic power surge or somethin'.
Maybe the wind had something to do with that... and as I walked a dozen blocks while going home, stuff was flying everywhere... and I passed by the plaza mall again, and they were demolishing most of the charred out remains with a bulldozer.
Excuse me for babblin' on a bit...
