Noticed a strong fuel smell when I went to start this morning. Started the bike and when I moved it I saw some liquid more in a curved line rather than a puddle under the bike (as I had already moved the bike I am not sure which area). I ran my finger through it and it was not engine oil - smelt more like fuel. I coule not see any other leaks.
Decided to carry on with the ride to work. Also, the oil level was fine. A few minutes into the commute I stopped and again checked the engine oil - again fine. Also for the few minutes the bike was standing I did not notice any leaks/drops. Though there was still some fuel smell.
Anyhow the ride to work was fine (except of course for some _stupid_ cagers ;-) ). The engine sounded as before (great!) and power seemed smooth (I suspected that there may have been some fuel delivery problem).
AT work, a more seasoned rider advised me that it could just be a sticky float in one of the carbs resulting in excess fuel running in the overflow pipe. He added that normally it should resolve it self.
So any thoughts/recommendations...
BTW it is 96 Hondar CBR 600, with just over 18K.
