I admit, I feel a bit stupid and gullible right now... but here's the story, in case anyone goes to the same stand at richmond center.
I was walking around richmond center for a gift for my friend when I saw one of those botique stands selling flashlights. What caught my eye was a Surefire flashlight they had. So far I haven't been able to find them in Canada, not even at the M.D Charlton place where they sell stuff to mostly enforcement guys. Surefire's the flashlights that US S.W.A.T, FBI, USMC, and a whole bunch of other agencies supply as standard issue. It's bright enough to blind someone momentarily.
So there I was, saying hey finally I found one in Canada. But I look at the price and see it's like almost 300 bucks with tax. The guy there seemed helpful enough, he showed it to me, demonstrated how bright it was (it was bright enough to light stuff up even inside the mall). So I ask him a few questions like if they'd put it on sale farther for boxing day, and they say probably not cause he's only making 20 bucks each off those lights. So I talk him a bit and he puts it 5% off.... he even goes on farther to tell me if I look on the internet they're selling for like 200 bucks USD and with taxes and shipping it'd be more expensive. So I finally relented and bought it.
Come home and load up www.surefire.com. LO AND BEHOLD! C3 Centurion flashlight $123.00 USD Free Shipping and handling with purchases over 99 USD. Boy am I steamed right now. He goes on to tell me the guys at Peace Arch are all usuing these now. And I have to hand it to him, he is one good son of a sales bitch, he (ripped) opened the package to "show me that it works", which I should've wondered right after he told me numerous times about surefire's "it's broken, we fix/replace it" policy. So now he's probably going to pull the "the product's out of the original package" line. I don't expect him to budge and give me a refund tomorrow but I'm gonna let him decide whether or not to do the right thing.
But then again I must've been pretty stupid. I should've looked online to check the price first.... AH well... yet another lesson learned and now shared with you guys
