First, let me just say that on Friday night, no one was looking at the G1K, despite it's location right at the entrance. Talk about instant relegation to yawn status!
I'd say the most popular was the R1, but that may have been because they only had two on the floor in a crowded space. The bike looks very good, but to me it just seems a little cluttered with so many little body pieces tacked on here and there. And the plastic piece at the front of the tank, despite giving the tank a nice shape in profile, just seems a little too much. It will also render your magnetic tank bag useless.
Honda only had one CBR1000RR and it was on a platform so you couldn't even throw a leg over it. I didn't see many people paying attention -- it was a bit of an arrogant turn-off. Even Ducati had a 999 you could sit on.
The Kawi ZX-10R was the second most popular, but they had three models on the floor to see, plus one more on a stand. I think the blue model looks gorgeous. The black is nice, but I like the contrast between the blue and the flat-black. The biggest problem with the Kawi is the way the body work fits together. The front fairing is a little awkward the way one piece overlaps the other, and the tail section is a little cheap in the way it goes together. Everything else is top notch.
Ergo wise, they all seem pretty much the same, although the legs tuck in tighter to the tank on the new bikes than the Suzi. Not unreasonably uncomfortable by any stretch. Leg room is about the same as my '01 6R.
All in all, I was disappointed with the show. Less stuff than last year, and no KTM (I really wanted to see the new 950 Duke).
