If you haven't seen my original "busted for window tint" thread have a look.
Anyhow, I figure it's time to try to get the motor vehicle act changed to at least allow the lightest window tint on the market on front side windows. Right now as you know, or may not know, any tint applied as a film to windows beside the driver's shoulder's or in front of the driver (except for a small strip on the windowshield) is illegal to tint.
If you'd like to have the law changed please PM me with your full name and telephone number. All information will be kept confidential. When I have a substantial list I will approach my local MP and if that doesn't work I'll ask a couple people on the petition if they would do the same with their MP. I will also create a form letter on my website that you can download and mail to your own MP along with contact info for that. It's going to come together in the next month and I'll keep everybody well informed as to what's happening.
Perhaps our kind webmaster could make this a sticky so that we can fill the petition as quick as possible. You can also send me an email instead of a PM if you wish (keep the flames on the original thread please) at firstname.lastname@example.org .
I may require signatures for the petition but your full name and telephone number will do for now. You can post it in the thread but for privacy send me a PM or email.
As part of the request I will suggest that a standardized form be available to the glass shops where it includes your VIN#, the contact details for the glass shop and the type of tint and that it complies with minimum light transmission requirements which can be carried in your glovebox to show to an officer. I also want to make sure that you as an owner can install this tint and go to a glass shop for inspection for a small fee perhaps or by having the receipt for the tint at the least.
Thanks for your attention!
ps. heck... that tinted double-bubble on your bike is prob illegal too! Sign up!
