My brother was downtown yesterday. Parked his 92' GTI on the street. Put more than enough in the meter. Came back and his car was gone. He phoned Vancouver Police to report it as stolen and they said that they had his car towed because they ran the plates and it was registered to another vehicle!
Previously he had a 92' Jetta that was totalled in a rear-ender, ICBC gave him the plates.
When we transfered the GTI to his name from my wife's instead of getting new plates he transfered his old plates to the GTI, thereby saving $20 bucks or whatever.
Someone at either the insurance place or ICBC fucked up. Now it's sitting in a towing yard, ICBC won't answer the phone, the insurance place is closed today, cops won't return his calls. Towing charges plus taxi bill. No car today. WTF!? Someone is going to PAY for this inconvenience!
