college courses - career help
I need a year of classes i could take.
to become a police officer
or id like to take a year course in something. i hate to say it, but i can't do 4 years of schooling, not because i dont like it, but because i know i will be no good at it. and to get anywhere you need 4 years, i know this, but thats out of the question for now.
other areas ive been looking into:
-Accounting and Payroll Administrator
I love the outdoors, im not a big fan of doing the same thing over and over again day in day out. I can do it, but would much rather a mix of things to do.
as you can see im not sure what to do with my life right now. all this looking on the web is driving me insane, mad.
so if you have any more input i would love to hear it.
not to sure what im intrested in just yet. i need some ideas.
what school the course is offered at, how long the course will take, how much the course will cost, what jobs are offered with this course and around how much you will make.
im not intrested in making millions... ive lived in a family with no money, so any schooling to get me just a little bit ahead is much better then the streets.
Thank you for your time.
I forgot to ask this.
Is there any firefighters on this forum?
im also looking into this, but im not sure what schooling i will need to take
i know i can take the classes at the justice institute but there are so many, i do not know what ones to take, at least 50 of them.
All departments are different for min requirements (qualifications of hired applicants are often much better than min requirements, it's often very competitive).
Man, it's been a long time since I was into that. Back home I was in the volunteer fire dept for a few years. If I remember right Vancouver FD wants 2 years university transfer (at least some I know that for sure)and firefighter level 1 from the JI. You're best bet is to check the city websites you're interested in, requirements varry a lot (PG Fire Dept required nothing special). The info might be posted up, if not it should show who to ask.
BTW that, I won't want to try cause I don't think I can cut it idea is STUPID. Don't let yourself go to university thinking that you're too stupid to do well at it. You get out of school exactly what you put into it. I haven't met anyone that just couldn't hash it. If you don't have the raw ability (more than likely you do), you just have to work harder than everyone else and you'll do well. Policing is an attractive career to me, I've thought about it in the past as well. Don't you have to go to the JI and get your training before you apply now for the VPD?

I was looking into a policing career as well. From talking to a cousin who's VPD, basically if you have a clean record, a year of university or college(general studies works great), and can breathe on your own, you have a good chance at gettin in.

Curtis I'm more or less the same as you, couldn't do the same shit, 9-5 every day. That's whats attractive about policing, it's a really dynamic job. If this acting thing I'm doing leads no where, that's definitely the route I'm taking.
