Hey guys, maybe you can give me some advice on this?
I have a 2000 Suzuki Bandit 600. The previous owner had it stored for quite a while with gasoline in it so that I had to have the carbs cleaned. Mechanic got it running, so I put it away for a month with fuel stabilizer. Just pulled it out the other day to give a start up and a little ride up the lane >=). Found it wasn't idling too well...assumed it was the choke as the problem. Looked in the gas tank and it looked pretty rusty.
So, my next step was to remove the tank...drained the gas. The gas certainly has a distinct reddish-orange colouring to it as well as some flakes of rust coming out as well. Which leads me to believe that my filter is partially clogged leading to poor idling.
My next question is: what can I do? Do I need a new tank? Is there a treatment I can do to clean it? I was under the impression that once they start to rust they're toast. Anyhow...my mechanic is off today, so I'm wondering if any of you guys (who certainly have more bike experience than I do) have any suggestions?
Why can't motorcycles\cars just work with no problems ever?
Thanks a lot,
