i had one of the best days of my life on monday, as i got to spend some time at the molson indy paddock driving brand new Mercedes with traction control and unbelievable Pirelli's on them. for anyone who has never driven a M-B, ( such as myself ) the S-class, E-class, and the C-class sedans i drove were in a league of their own. the S-class was nicer inside than some homes i've been in. and power?
HOOEEEEE! hate to sound like a kid, but picture a go kart on nitrous. when i win the lottery, i'm getting a black S-class, and then i'm burning my sonoma pickup. on the slalom course, with the torque split being 40/60 front to rear, i could not drift through the corners as the active safety systems kept the cars planted, and right on track, all the way through the course. because i've never owned a Benz, i had never really taken a good look at them. the fit and finish was beyond description. and the paint! sigh.........wish everybody on the board could have been there and tried the cars out. and every person i met there, from Naomi, Preston, the VPD officers that were in attendance, to Micheal, to Eric, the older gentleman i had the joy of making four laps with while he told me about the three Mercedes he had at home, were all unbelievably friendly, and accommodating. the only thing that would have made it better was if we had the chance to take a couple of race bikes on Pirellis and do the slalom! two thumbs up to Mercedes-Benz, and the next best thing was, all the money collected went to charity.
