With the recent events, some guys getting tickets this early on in the season.
I think the best way to ride the S2S is gapping the cars.
Find a break in track at the start, go slow in the straights (depending on traffic behind, go anywhere from 30km to 65km in the straight sections, even a slow crawl) no chance of a ticket and no cars to piss you off when you get to the twisty section, where you want to step the speed up to whatever, and the fun really starts.
The speed you set all depends on the traffic when gapping.
I have run both the crazy double line passing runs the whole way up, and gapping traffic, and find that the gapping is way more fun. You can concentrate on cornering and stuff, your not so worried about looking for cops. Have I seen cops when in a corner going 160km going in the other direction sure, but they usually keep going the other way, they can’t stop and turn around until a straight.
I know double line passing is fine and safe on the S2S but when a pack of bikes are blasting past cars even if it is safe, only draws attention to bikes and the cops get complaints, which means more of a crack down on that highway, less fun for us.
Try it a couple times this season, we all can go 240km down the straights, kind of boring if you ask me, go ride the TransCanada long and straight if you want that action.
