chain and sprockets
what happens if the chain is replaced but the old sprockets are kept on?
and i have the OEM endless chain still...i don't have a chain breaker so if i file the rivets down by hand, is that task going to take a long time? just want to prepare myself for it...
from what I learned @ motorcycle school, the chain will wear down twice as fast! But then again, I've only been on a motorcycle for 10 hours. lol

if the sprockets aren't 'hooked' or in any other way noticeably worn, i wouldn't bother changing them, especially on your bike.
you're going to need a very hard/sharp file for the rivets. i tried it and didn't even make a scratch . . . . .
i ended up hacksawing the old chain apart, as the side plates are quite soft.
i used a bench vice to get extra links out so that the new chain was the right size.
C-Clip Masterlink: clean with solvent (ie brakecleaner), put a drop of superglue on the clip before sliding into place, lockwire around the plate and clip, mark with yellow paint so you can find it easily for a 'peace of mind' check
you don't need to spend $100's on a chain either, as a $45 dollar one was fine on my old bike . . . . . .
i'm sure there's lots of other opinions out there . . . .

Wanna borrow a dremmel? Makes very short work of rivets.
yeah, cuz i don't have the extra cash for the sprockets right now but i really need to replace my chain. just wanted to make sure it was going to be ok if i only replaced the chain.
