How do you count your gears ?

1. ## How do you count your gears ?

Actual Gear : 1 N 2 3 4 5

opt1 : 1 - 2 3 4 5

opt2 : 1 2 3 4 5 6

I count it as opt1....but the bike manufactuerers consider the "N" a gear also and therefore claim 6 gears...

What?? Your bike has 6 gears plus neutral, doesn't it?

1 N 2 3 4 5 6. I wouldn't consider neutral a gear.

5. yeah dude, it's

1 N 2 3 4 5 6

but they dont count N as a gear.

6. 6 + N

7. I count mine in Roman numerals.

8. Neutral is not counted as a gear, unless of course your tranny is screwed and locked-up, in which case you probably don't have all of the other 6 either.

9. ## how many gears?

I use my fingers

ken

10. I only count the prime numbers.

11. I do not count them at all, I just go along happily up-shifting away until I cannot shift anymore. And on the way down I just go until I am in the 'right' gear.

12. I'm the same as v above. Shift up until the shifter won't go anymore and then concentrate on getting the rest of the power down. Then when down shifting I like V shift down until the revs sound right for the corner. You get used to the sound of the engine as you are shifting.

Cheers

13. ok ok, sorry folks, see this is what happens due to sleep deprivation, well on the way home today morning from work I mistakenly counted 2nd as fist as I left of the line....and that basically got my mind going in all sorts of crazy thoughts....
