    Gear dealers that take paypal?

Well, since I've sold a bunch of car stuff on the net, my paypal account is upwards of $600usd. Ideally, I just want to convert this into bike gear, but am having a hell of a time finding anyone who accepts paypal. anyone point me towards a paypal friendly shop?

There's that person that sells a lot of Joe Rocket stuff out of Prince George (or somewhere in BC) at pretty good prices, but I'm sorry I can't find the ebay store now... anyone?

I've bought a couple of things of these guys, they're in Calgary. More links at the bottom of the page as there's a group of them.

You don't get hit by spending it. Only the money recipient gets hit with fees.

In fact, if anything, you get hit by transferring it to your bank account, because PayPal's exchange isn't exactly the best out there.

Hmm... never thought about it from that angle... guess I've never been in the situation of having to specifically buy from a PayPal store before to compare prices.

heh. just checked out paypal's exchange rate. for withdrawing $450usd into my account, paypal would take more than $16cnd in fees + currency conversion imbalance, based on the minimum exchange rate at oanda.com. that isn't too bad, about what, .05% markup? it could be worse.

no. the $16 is from their crappy exchange rate and the $0.50 fee. What they are doing is that they add a couple points to the exchange rate, so they make more money off of the transaction due to garnering the exchange, instead of charging fees. Sure, that 5k got transferred for only .50, but you probably lost a couple hundred bucks due to the exchange they gave you, than if you had gotten say a money order and got it exchanged at a bank.

Yeah... but there's not really any way around that... even if using your credit card, the exchange rate is usually around 2% higher... so yeah, if you can find good deals that could be paid with your PayPal balance, it's probably the best way to go.

If you wanted to use these guys here is the link to the ebay store http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=30019167&ssPageName=L2

I've been into the shop and talked to them, and he seems like a really good guy to deal with.
