Today I closed a deal at British Italian Motorcycles for a Roulette Green 2004 Triumph Speed Triple!
I am proud to announce that my baby will be delivered to me in the next two weeks or so, entering this world at a healthy, naked 416 lbs. dry, with 3 cylinders and a single-sided-swingarm. Her hair is a little unkempt (hoses and wires all over the place), but that's part of her personality. And when I see her next she will have grown a high-mount carbon fibre pipe and cool bar-end mirrors.
Anyone ridden one of these before? I demo'd the shop's and although it isn't even broken in, there's tons of fun to be had even at 5,000 rpm. The ergos are odd (ie. very British) in that the footpegs are relatively high for a situp position, as are the wide bars. I'm used to the ergos of a ZX636R, and the Triumph riding position was like being locked in a seated 10 o'clock wheelie on my Kawi. Made me smile even as I rolled away from the curb in first.
This bike has tons of torque on tap in any gear. It's no R1, GXR1K or 10R, but the power, brakes and handling on this bike were impressive all the same. Totally surpassed what I was expecting. Nice flickable steering yet solid and planted through the corners. I never really tapped into the power, but I'm told the bike is a wheelie freak. I'll save that for later after break-in and once my baby and I are better acquainted.
I'm looking forward to introducing my TS3 to all of you in the coming months(OK, just those who come out for rides locally)!
Props to Mike, Paul and Nikolai (sp?) @ British Italian for their superb service.
