why are people so confrontational and quick to label everyone in a group these days?
I was driving by chapters downtown on robson tonight and there was a group of people marching in a protest carrying signs "No more pigs in our community" and shouting "fucking pig!" at the cops who ironically was providing them with traffic control so that they CAN safely march on the street.
Just as they say they hate poor people being labelled as criminals, do they think it's right to label all cops taking part in police brutality?
And in a group presentation in one of my classes at ubc, a guest speaker from the downtown east side actually said outright that "I hate rich people". WTF? Just as they don't want us to label all "poor" people as criminals and drug addicts, why are they labelling all "rich" people as taking part in scams or taking advantage of others in order to gain their wealth? I think the anti-poverty movement is begining to have a backlash like some forms of feminism where it's no longer good enough to gain equality with the rich or the men, it's about revenge, revenge and retribution on the men or the rich.
This just reeks of communism...
