I just signed up to bcsportsbikes today. I have never ridden and this is my very first post. I have looked through a few threads and it looks like many of you are from the island, so I think I have come to the right place.
It is now spring and I have been looking outside at people riding their bikes, I have always wanted one but have never had the chance since I am a student. Well, I hope to change that this summer. I have hooked up a place to live on UVIC campus so my car is not as nessesary. I am planning to sell it and buy a bike. I have signed up for courses at the comox driving school and in two weeks I should be able to ride. Hehe, right now I wouldn't even know how to switch the gears.
I am now worried about the bike that I will be able to buy. There seems to be many more 750cc's out there rather than 600cc's. I wanted a 600cc since I have never ridden before. Do you guys think that a 750cc like a suzuki GSXR or Kawasaki ZX7R would be ok for a newbie. I only have about 3-4 grand to spend so I dont think I have too many options. My main worry is that I can get a bike that doesn't need work, since all my other funds are tied up into tuition and rent. I love the look of the older kawa zx7r around 1992 looks way ahead of its time. I would like to find a suzuki Gixxer 600cc early 90's. I dunno, you guys know a lot more than me. What do you think?
