sort of a continuation of a previous post ("hesitation") that i need more answers to...bike all of a sudden started experiencing hesitation under 4000 rpms, as well as a strong smell of unburned gas. some people suggested that i was running rich. i took out the air filter, saw that i over-oiled it last time i cleaned it, so re-did it, popped it back in, but that still same symptoms.
i pulled the plugs and cylinders 1, 2, and 4 are ok (light brown) but #3 was carbon-fouled and was wet. so i guess i've been running on 3 cylinders!!! i didn't have much time to fix it, so that's where i left off.
as far as clearing the engine, i've read to:
1) turn ignition to ON
2) with plugs out and kill switch in OFF position, give 'er a few starts
however, some says to fully open the throttle while doing this, while some other sources don't mention that. which is it?
now, fuel is collecting in #3 float bowl so i know my carbs are ok. i've also checked that coil #3 is creating a spark. so i have fuel and i have spark. my 2nd question is once i clear the cylinder of fuel, what does it mean if it still doesn't combust?
