Repair Manuals & Oil Usage
I was wondering if anyone know any free repair manuals sites online? I'm looking for a Yamaha Maxim 650 1982.
This might sound weird but is the tranmission and motor the same oil? like they are connected so you only have to put one type of oil. If no, can I use car tranmission and/or motor oil instead of motorcycle oil?

Motor and tranny oil is all the same on that bike, 10-40 recommended.
So I just use 10w40 car oil in it? or has to be motorcyle oil? and how many litres do i pour in ?? and is there an oil filter on the bike?

10w-40 motorcycle oil is recommended but you can use car oil. You put in enough 'til it's full, there should be a sight glass on the side of the engine or the filler cap has a dipstick attached. My 550 Maxim had a sight glass (right side of the engine) and you need to hold the bike upright on level ground to get a proper reading. I'm guessing but somewhere between 3 and 4 litres should do it, depending on if you change the oil filter at the same time. The oil filter is at the front and bottom part of the engine and sticks out. If you do change the filter be sure to run the bike a few minutes and check the oil level again afterwards. Shaft oil I dunno, mine didn't have one. You can sometimes find manuals at the library and the catalogue is online (in Vancouver and Burnaby) so you should be able to search.
